Niccolo Rigacci, Firenze - Italy 11 June 1998 Here are the utilities to bootstrap the Compaq Aero from the serial line! There is a simple disk editor (DISKEDIT) and a more complex program (HDSERIAL) which read and write hard disk sectors from the serial line. To use them just attach the Aero to a desktop PC with a serial cable and start R_DNLOAD.EXE on the desktop. The DIAG.CPQ file in HDSERIAL and DISKEDIT directories is modified so it feeds TEST.EXE instead of TEST.COM to the remote computer. The HDSERIAL.EXE and DISKEDIT.EXE program was renamed TEST.EXE. In the BASIC directory a simple QBasic "client" program for reading or writing hard disk sectors when HDSERIAL is running on the Compaq Aero. In the same directory there is an image file (HDA1.BIN) of a bootable partition, useful to restore a missing operating system hard disk. The image is: 2 Cylinders x 64 Heads x 63 Sectors x 512 bytes = 4128768 bytes It is supposed to live on a 1.3 Gb disk with the following geometry: 0-652 Cylinders 0-63 Heads 1-63 Sectors ÉÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ» º USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍͼ
