An excellent solution is the Gnome Screenshot applet. This is run when
with ActionsScreenshot. It can also be run from the
command line to capture the window with current focus (after a 5
second delay) with:
$ gnome-panel-screenshot --window --delay 5You will be asked to specify a file into which the screenshot is saved. Under Gnome's Keyboard shortcuts the Print key will take a screenshot and Alt-Print will take a windowshot. (However, whilst these are mapped as such they do not work. There is some discussion, late 2004 and early 2005 about this. The current resolution is to map Print to another key, like Shift-Ctrl-Atl-P!)
