Filename: MFIBIOS.TXT WWW URL: http://www.firmware.com/support/bios/mfibios.htm FTP URL: ftp://ftp.firmware.com/text/mfibios.txt Revision: 06/07/99 TLS Micro Firmware Technical Support Summary: Cross-reference for Micro Firmware BIOS upgrades, including motherboard names, part numbers, original BIOS versions.
This document lists all of the currently available Micro Firmware BIOS upgrades based on Phoenix 4.03, 4.05, or 4.06 code.
The main reason for developing most of these upgrades is to support large hard drives. The current revisions of all of these upgrades support hard drives up to 8.4GB. A few of them support drives over 8.4GB. We are working on adding support for drives over 8.4GB to most of these upgrades. See OVER8GB.TXT for details. All of these upgrades support 4 hard drives. The current versions of all of these BIOSes will handle the Year 2000 date rollover correctly.
Detailed information on all of these upgrades is available on our web site or FTP site. A separate text file addresses each BIOS upgrade. The "Current Revision" info may be more accurate in the part number text files, although this file should be accurate as of the revision date of this file.
Listed by motherboard manufacturer in this order: Micronics, Intel, Packard Bell, Anigma.
Micronics motherboards can be identified by the Micronics part number which is silkscreened onto the top of the board, usually on the back edge of the board. The part number is in the form 09-00xxx. Gateway 2000 used the following boards up through the JX30G. Micron uses Micronics boards beginning with the JX30. We may develop upgrades in the future for additional Micronics Pentium boards.

Intel Motherboards can be identified by the suffix on the BIOS version. All of the following Intel boards have been used by Gateway 2000. The fourth digit in the BIOS version suffix indicates an OEM version of the BIOS or board (T indicates Gateway 2000).

These are normally identified by the FCC ID number on the back of the system unit. The BIOS version is not useful for identifying the board.
FCC ID 400-409 is PB400. FCC ID 410-449 is PB410 or PB430 (we use same upgrade for both) FCC ID 450-459 is PB450Motherboard Original MFI Current

These are used by Gateway 2000. There are five 486 PCI Anigma boards, one 486 EISA Anigma board, and one 486 ISA Anigma board used by Gateway 2000. We have a BIOS upgrade for only the 486 ISA board and have no plans to produce upgrades for the others. For more info on GW2K Anigma motherbaords, see ANIG-CHT.TXT.
