Filename: SETUPDSK.TXT WWW URL: http://www.firmware.com/support/bios/setupdsk.htm FTP URL: ftp://ftp.firmware.com/text/setupdsk.txt Revision: 07/30/99 TLS Micro Firmware Technical Support Summary: Where to obtain CMOS Setup programs for AT&T, Epson, GRiD, NEC, Panasonic, Samsung, Unisys, and Wyse computers.
We receive a lot of calls from people needing to get into CMOS setup on older computer systems. If the system has an older Phoenix BIOS and a built-in setup program, it is most likely accessed by pressing CTL-ALT-ESC or CTL-ALT-S during POST. On newer Phoenix BIOSes, setup is accessed by pressing F2 during POST. On some systems F1 is used instead. On Dell systems setup is accessed with CTL-ALT-ENTER.
Many older systems do not have built-in setup programs. All such systems were originally provided with a setup program on diskette by the manufacturer. If this diskette cannot be located, the manufacturer should be contacted. Contact information for some manufacturers is listed below.
We provide a generic setup program that can be used on some 286 and 386 systems with Phoenix BIOSes. This program is made available on the condition that we provide NO SUPPORT for it. We cannot guarantee that it will work on any particular system and cannot be responsible for any problems arising from its use. It is possible that running this program on a particular system will render it unusable. In such cases it may just be necessary to clear CMOS RAM. Some useful info on this can be found in this document:
http://www.firmware.com/support/bios/cmosclr.htm
Also, this program provides access only to "standard" CMOS settings.
We would especially not recommend using this program on any of the systems listed below, for which setup programs are available from the manufacturer.
This program can be downloaded here:

Phoenix or Micro Firmware do not provide technical support for any computer systems. All support, including all BIOS issues, is up to the system manufacturer.
Here is some information on obtaining setup programs for some particular systems:
Support for AT&T system is now handled by NCR:
Some files for older AT&T systems can be found here:
http://www3.ncr.com/support/pc/pcdesc/library/63xx.shtml
Setup programs for Epson computers are available on the World-Wide Web at this URL:
http://www.epson.com/support/ftp.shtml
Setup programs for GRiD computers are available on the World-Wide Web at this URL:
http://support.tandy.com/grid.htm
Some of these files at the above sites are in the form of COM files, so it may be necessary to use a special technique to download them. If using Netscape, SHIFT-CLICK (hold down the SHIFT key while clicking the left mouse button) on the file to download it. If you just click on it, you will be viewing the file (unless you have adjusted properties for this type of file under OPTIONS/HELPERS).
The GRiD company originally manufactured laptop systems. Later, GRiD was bought by Tandy, who continued to manufacture some systems under the GRiD name. More recently, AST purchased the GRiD line from Tandy and may have manufactured a few systems with this name. AST continues to provide technical support for all GRiD computers. AST's technical support phone number is 800-727-1278.
Here is a website with tons of info on GRiD systems:
