In Summary:

The Internet Society was formed in 1992 to promote the growth and evolution of the Internet, and to make the Internet widely available to all types of users.

To complete this goal, the Internet Society promotes development of Internet standards, new Internet technologies, and education and research.

Membership in the Internet Society is international and open to anyone. Members include corporations, non-profit organizations, educators, network specialists, individual users and others.
