15 Minute Series What is Network News?


A newsreader is an interface that allows the user to select an article title from a list to open it. Using commands or menus, the user can then reply to the article or post a new article. A series of articles and the responses to them are called threads.

In order to see the articles in a newsgroup, a user must first subscribe to the newsgroup. This is usually just a matter of selecting it from the list of newsgroups available on the news server.
