15 Minute Series How did the NSF get involved?



In 1993, the NSF established the InterNIC (Internet Network Information Center) to provide information and services to the Internet community. The InterNIC is operated by Network Solutions, Inc. (NSI) and AT&T through a cooperative agreement issued by the NSF.

NSI provides domain name registration services, as well as information and education services for the Internet community. AT&T provides directory and database services.
